The Showgrounds pavilion was a hive of activity on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th of August! Seventy two intrepid folk turned up with a plan to ride ‘postie bikes’ all the way from Samford to Darwin! What a great idea! What could possibly go wrong! They spent Saturday, getting their bikes ready for the journey, fortifying themselves with a social dinner and most importantly – getting to know each other! After all – there were riders from all over Australia and as far apart as New Zealand and the USA.
Come Sunday, the riders were up and bristling to get on their way – but not before preparing with a SAMS hearty egg and bacon roll breakfast.
Meanwhile, back at the pavilion…….at about 8am, the riders were given their final instructions and then off they went.
Thanks goes to Craig and his dedicated of helpers, the SAMS breakfast was a roaring success – so much so the organisers were so impressed that they invited SAMS to come back next year to do the same thing again.
